Personal Digital Assistant (PDA) New

Personal digital assistants, commonly known as PDAs, are devices that combine a range of basic computing functions, such as scheduling, contact management and communications, into a small portable device that can be used in place of larger full featured computer systems.

The first PDA was created by Apple, Inc in the early 90s, subsequent models such as the Palm Pilot have become much more popular and have created a new industry. PDA products are now produced by many companies including Compaq's iPAQs and HP Jornadas. Microsoft has also entered the segment by developing a version of the Windows platform, Windows CE, to run on handheld and pocket PC devices.
