Converting a drive to NTFS

You will need to run the Convert tool from the command prompt. Click on Start > Run, type "command" and click on OK to open a DOS type window. At the prompt you will need to type "convert D: /fs:ntfs" then press Enter (where "D:" is the letter of the drive you want to convert to NTFS). If you are using the drive that is to be converted a message will appear informing you that the process will take place next time you start the computer. When you've restarted you'll be given the opportunity to cancel the conversion if you wish. Otherwise, the process will continue and the Windows XP will run Check Disk. Your PC will be restarted twice automatically before the conversion is completed. You can alter the command line parameters and make changes to the actions that Convert performs. For example adding /v will display all messages during the conversion and /nosecurity makes converted file and directory security settings accessible by everyone.
