Can't remove infections without crashing

Hello,

Recently installed spyware doc on my desktop after a couple of recommendations - no problems installing. I tried a full scan and found 128 infections, but when i tried to fix spydoc just stops responding. Did a quick scan instead and removed 32, and then a couple of custom scans using the individual scanners to remove a few more. Now down to 68!

Again the full scan crashes- does anyone have any ideas? Or found that spydoc can't fix larger volumes? It appears that they are all found with the registry scanner. Have tried about 6 or 7 times now

did you purchase a license for "spyware doctor"? supposedly, it won't remove malware unless it is licensed..

No, I haven't heard of this one yet. But I am a relatively new user. My first question would be: did you buy the software?

The trial/free version of SD does not remove malware, only detects it.

Hi Xrayman,

If you have registered Spyware Doctor, please perform a SD scan in safemode as this may resolve the problem. Please see below.

Restart the Computer in Safe Mode:

1. Click on the Start button. The Start menu will appear.
2. Select ''Shut Down'' from the menu (''Turn off Computer'' in XP).
The 'Shut Down Windows' dialog box will appear.
3. Select ''Shut down'' (or, ''Turn Off'' in XP) and click the Yes (or OK) button.
4. When the computer starts back up, begin immediately by pressing the F8 key repeatedly until the Windows Startup menu appears with various options.
5. By using the up and down arrow keys on the keyboard, select 'Safe Mode'.
Do not select 'Safe Mode with networking' or any other modes.
6. Login to your account (if asked).
7. Wait and eventually Windows will start in Safe Mode.
8. Open Spyware Doctor, Run a FULL Scan, 'Fix and Continue'
click on 'Fix and Continue'.

I think that is common for first time scan and fix with Spyware Doctor as there might be A LOT of iteams to remove.
I bet if you just leave it for 5 mins you will find that your pc goes back to normal and the infections will be removed. Sometimes it occurs on my pc if i have over 100 infections (not just cookies) to remove when i hit fix and continue... it appears that it's locking up but if you leave it for 5, come back and all will be ok.
