Any long time Spyware Doctor users out there?

Just curious for anyone that has used the product for some time how often you get false positives?

I can certainly understand getting one here and there, particularly if you take an aggressive stance on what you label as spyware.

But every time I get false positive, it costs me at least an hour of my time doing scans, on-line research, etc.

So I am curious as to how many false positives the long time users have seen?

if you are referring to files that were flagged by SD, the only false-positive that i can recall having is the current one where SD is flagging ccleaner's "uninst.exe".. so i really haven't had a problem with false-positives, with SD.. i have been using SD for about a year..

false-positives usually don't bother me as long as they are addressed by the vendor.. however, if i have alerts constantly popping up from the false-positive, that is annoying..

I am glad that you haven't had many FP's (false positives). I just had the CCleaner one (and even though this has not been officially addressed by PC Tools, I am confident it is a FP).

I don't use McAfee AV products, but if I did, Spyware Doctor just had a FP with their product recently.

I also don't Ewido/AVG Antispyware, but I have recently read about Spyware Doctor detecting a FP with the Ewido uninstall file.

So my concern is that Spware Doctror will constantly be giving me false detections and getting me concerned about nothing on a regular basis.

So it is good to hear that you haven't had a problem.

FP's can also be an underhanded way to get people to buy your product. You download the software, it tells you that you have spyware when you don't, and the only way it will remove the spyware (that isn't really spyware)is if you buy the product. So too many FP's could give the company a bad image.

you notice that all of these files that are being flagged are "uninstall" files.. i have seen where a lot of antimalware programs have been flagging "uninstall" files in the past several months.. i understand that the reason that this is happening is because the vendors are trying to address some malware, but, consequently, these "uninstall" files are being flagged.. all of the other vendors work to address these "uninstall" false-positives, and i hope that PCTools will, too..
