PCTools Antivirus won't release USB Flash Disk
Safely Remove Hardware icon will not release USB Flash Disk as long as PCTools Antivirus is running.
Each time I select:
Safely Remove USB Mass Storage Device - Drive R:
I get a dialog box stating:
The device 'Generic Volume' cannot be stopped right now. Try stopping the device again later.
No matter how long I wait, I get the same dialog box. If I shutdown PCTools Antivirus, I can release the USB Flash Disk within seconds.
Is anyone else having this problem and if so, have you been able to make PCTools release its handle?

This is because PC Tools AntiVirus is constantly monitoring all your drives.
Just exit from AV and you should be able to release it.
Hope this helps. =)

Want List
Thanks. Yes, that works as I mentioned in my original post.
However, it would be nice if we had an option to disable monitoring of a specific USB Mass Storage Device. It is time consuming to stop PCTAV, wait for the release (i.e. try the ejection 1 to 3 times), then restart PCTAV. It would be much more efficient if I could simply tell PCTAV 'Don't monitor device R:'.
I use my Flash Memory Drive for synchronization only. Therefore it is installed only at log-on and log-off times. I always remove it immediately after the synchronization process is completed. Surely others are doing this too.
Thanks in advance for your consider of this matter.

Same problem too!
I experience the same thing with my flash memory drive.
I tried in the "Scan Settings" area, "Scan Exclusions", to set my drive letter to be excluded, But, that doesn't seem to work. However, I am also going to try after I reboot and see if maybe that works.

I can confirm this problem. Windows refuses to release any removable media as long as PCTAV is running.

I am still experiencing this problem still. And having to exit the PC Tools Antivirus program just to eject the USB device is really annoying. IS this ever going to be fixed? What is the status today?

The problem with not being able to release the USB/Floppy drive while AV is active, should be resolved shortly. I cannot comment on the time frame at this point, but I know that the developers are implementing a fix.
Once I receive additional info I will pass this on.
Apologies for the inconvenience.
