Default Version 5 Wishlist

I just started using this program days ago and love it so far. Much lighter than Spysweeper yet just as good of protection (maybe better). Overall, I really like this product. I would rate the best antispyware product I have tried (and I have tried Counterspy, Adaware, Ewido, A-Squared, Spysweeper, Spybot Search and Destroy, Aluria, and Microsofts free Product).

That said, after using the product for 3 days now, I would suggest the following be changed in the next version:

1. The delay after smart update. It seems to take SD a long time to start up after update. No other product I have used has this problem.

2. Long Boot time. I would say that at least one minute has been added to my boot time since installing SD.

3. GUI: You can't see all the Guards at once on the "On Guard" screen.

Additionally, I think it would be nice if the next version added:

1. Termination protection. I don't want malware to be able to terminate my security applications. It would be nice if SD protected itseld, as well as watched over other applications that you point it to.

2. An optional HIPS Guard. HIPS is the future of antimalware security. If not in the next release, it should be on the radar.

3. Keep the program from becoming "bloatware". It is good on system resources now. Keep it that way.

PS...I think the forum and PC Tools would be well served with a sticky post about users "wish list" for future versions. We might be able to help PC Tools implement some of our favorite features from other security applications into Spyware Doctor.

Here is another suggestion, which is fairly trivial, but would still be nice.

On the "status screen" where it says "subscription active", it would be nice if the program listed what date your subscription is active until.

Agaim this is somehat trivial, but would be a nice smaller detail to consider.

Hey ejr,

If you want to view the date that your subscription is active until, you can click on Help/About on SD. It will display this information. However, it is a good idea to display the date on the main interface, so that it can be quickly viewed.

However, SD already displays the days remaining, so i guess thats good enough.

Are you using Spyware Doctor V4.0 because that is the version I have. And when I click on HELP, then ABOUT...it tells me the version that I am running, who the product is registered to, and also lists my license KEY. But no dates.

I have just contacted support and they said, if your license codes subscription status is "Subscription license" it will not show the active date. However, if you have a "Customer license" it will dispaly this information.

It appears you have a "Subscription license".

Do you have any idea what the difference between a "subscription license" and a "customer license" is?

Are there any other differences between the 2 licenses?

I just renewed that license for a year. I wonder if this will cause problems?

The difference is with a 'subscription license' you have chosen to automatically renew your subscription, whereas a 'customer license' I will need to manually renew once the subscription is due for renewal. If you wish to cancel the automatic renewal, you will need to contact support.
