Default Portable Spyware Doctor

I cannot understand why PCtools do not make a portable version of the program.
why? - here's why: I help quite a few people out with their computers. One of the first things I want to do is a quick spyware scan. I don't want to install a program onto their computers. I just want to run the program from say - a usb stick and quickly clean out the running stuff.
Even in my own pc, I don't want spyware doctor running all the time because I think the onguard scanner is pretty naff and the service often hogs too much resources.
Therefore, every version of spyware doctor that comes out, I turn it into a portable version that I can use. I just double click a rar executable that I made to unrar it onto the system drive and automatically start up. When I am finished with it, I just shut it down normally then run a bat file I made to totally clean it out of the computer. I am not changing anything about the program - just adding to it.
If I can do it, why can't PCtools?

Lol.

Nice idea tho. But, I think, it is not about why Pc tools does not wnt to make it, maybe it is more about why does PC TOols have to make it that way?

Onguard may consume lots of memory, but, i dun really have that kind of problems. and now they have Int. Security. eventho everyhting (onguard etc etc) is ON, it runs so smooth like SILK. Thats why I like Internt security so much. lol.

now, you may try to think, "Why they have to follow your idea?". Try to put your self in their position. what are the advantages and what are the disadvantages. At the end you should know why....

Hi
I have previously suggested that a portable version be developed. I think the idea was forwarded to the dev team, however, it does require quite a lot of code rewriting to make it work like that. Hopefully in the near future there may be a release (fingers-crossed)
Hope that helps

As I said, I have made every version into a portable version for my own use.
If anyone is interested, I could upload it to Rapidshare and post a link. I am away from home this weekend but could do it on Monday if anyone wants me to.
(No doubt it will be illegal or against some rule or another)

Think about it! Open-source apps in a portable format is one thing. Why would a for-profit company make something you can loan to your buddy cuz he's to cheep-cheep to buy his own?

Just because it is portable does not mean that it can be used for nothing. Just like the normal installation it requires a user name and password to be valid in order to do any updates. In this respect it is no different from the official version.

Okay, so you plug it in to your buddy's machine, log in and give him a freebie. I stand corrected. (NOT!)

Sorry if I am missing something here, but you can do exactly the same thing as you are saying with the ordinary installation. You can install any program in the world into someone else's machine and give them your registration information. I don't understand what you are meaning.
My portable version requires that you enter your own registration information to make it work - just like the actual program.
Here it is for what it is worth. I hope someone finds it as useful as me - an essential tool for working on the open road.
Do not run it if you are afraid of losing existing PCtools programs registration information ie backup your PCtools serial numbers and installation programs first.
Read the readme.txt file.

Someone else out there made the loader. I just made the bat files and executable rar file.
