Default V5-259 or V4 3/4?

One might wonder.
One thing for sure: Vechio might be close to a heart attack.

It seems lighter, but only time will tell what have disappeared.
Intelli signatures have dropped to 180.430 - looks rather close to V4?
Scan time (full scan): 38 min, with 205 earlier it was 44.
But watch out: Scanned files: 239.674? In 205: 213.000, in 258: 207.000 what have happened?
VM seems however to much the same (230+), but so far no peaking of the CPU caused by any of the SD exe's.

Let us se if history file keeps on without holes like a Swiss cheese, if updates are recorded, if the Portugeese language file is corrected..........

Cross Our fingers and see what happends.

If there are any real changes they are not obvious. The GUI will still not close down for me without the error message that I have reported in the past. Subjectively I have to click on the close button more times than ever to get rid of the error message.

I suppose having paid for the year, I shall persist with SD5, but I have teminated my automatic subscription, and as things stand, I shall not renew it at the end of the year.

I shall have to hope that competitors produce something as effective at detecting malware, which actually works with my computer, rather than trying to work against it.

I note that even though I have terminated my subscription, I am still shown here as a subscriber? Perish the thought, but does the re-install automatically re-instate the subscription? If this is the case, I shall remove Spyeare Doctor from my system, and I shall not be back.

I notice also that the GUI now shows my subscription as being valid for 365 days.

That will change at next re-boot - normally. It allways comes up like that at every 'new' install..

As for the shut down problem of Your GUI, I guess 'something' is blocking Your SDtray.exe. Open Your task manager (process) while You try to shut down and see if there is any abnormal active other process.

Ok here we go again! So far everything is running fine.

One question - why does the tools button have to be downloaded separately each time? Is it an optional add-on?

Hi
The tools section (i.e. Malware Detective) is only available to paying customers, hence why it is downloaded seperately.
Hope that helps

It is part of the 'slimming' process as well as Site Guard etc.
You only need it for Malware detective so why bother?

I have by the way got the intelli signatures up again, but fighting with some other 'bugs' when switching user accounts.
Another 'problem' I shut off SD from sys tray, just shut down - no reboot, to check the PF usage: Massive 273 MB in difference!!!!!
When I restarted SD again, system froze up and went on with 100% CPU.
The processes that all of the sudden started was csrss.exe and msoffice.exe (office97) in 'guest' account? This happends if I do not log out of Guest account, shut off SD and then restart SD. If I log out of 'Guest' open 'admin' I can shut off and restart SD without problems.
Will have a closer look tomorrow, time to quit for the day.

I noted in my playing around that the PF goes sky high - up 273 MB when opening the GUI. Check in Task Manager that You do not Your limmit, that will stop it from closing down!

The CPU briefly goes to 50% when opening the GUI, but is virtually zero as the GUI closes, and when the error message appears.
The memory usage barely changes.

Thanks for trying!

Does 'Subscriber' refer to the fact that you're a paying customer or that you're a subscriber in the forum?

Just wanted to say that Intelli sigs have gone from 646,873 to 647,053 and scanned items from 157,658 to 158,450 going from V205 to V259. Doesn't seem like a big change. And so far no holes in History but keeping an eye on it.

One thing though - Intelli Scan takes 6.50 minutes and Full Scan a very long time. Will do one shortly and report back.
