Release -install -recall -uninstall!!!
And here we go again.
Another update -another recall!
If I excuse??? Tired of the morons at PC Tools: NO I do not excuse.
This happends allmost everytime.
The quality department must be totally off the hook, or 'working' for the competition.
The SD5 have been a scandal from beginning -and we seems to be far from the end!
Don't this company understand they are making themself to a joke in the industry?
Try a bet on the bookmakers in London: what are the chances of a troublefree 'uppdate' from PC Tools. Those odds are non-excistent.
To all those who clap their hands and jump of joy for the good work performed by PC Tools, your standard of expectations and quality must be rather low.
6 months and still in uninstall and reinstall hell!!

Yes man. I know. It is quite annoying. But, my self, personally, I am ok. I have 2 pc. And, I have to unisntall and reinstall one of them, while, the other 1 is fine. So, one of my computer is working alrite. I tried that latest vesrion (something.258, i fogot). It works great. No lag at all . My pc is not slowing down and faster scan. I am not sure what is happening and why we have to uninstall and reinstall that one with Anti virus. but yea, it should be alrrite. Give them a bit more time dude.
I learnt it from my teacher "Anything happened, happened for reasons".
hehe...

It is a pain but I think it's better they found the problem, admitted it and rolled-back than left it available. I think that's a more open approach than some other products I've used where you get stuck with a buggy upgrade and no way to go back ... PGP comes to mind.
My 2 cents.
BTW You must have been fast reorder, it was only available for such a short time I didn't get to update anyway!

I had an opportunity to download the latest version and from what I can say is this version was excellent. I have just uninstalled the new version and back to 5.0.1.205. Im really looking forward to the release of this new version again. Whatever it is these guys found, its great to see that they have taken it back and fixing it before releasing it again.
Again, good work guys

The new version seemed to be working fine for me but I've uninstalled it and gone back to the old one as instructed. It wasn't too much hassle and it's better to find out sooner, rather than when everything starts going wrong IMO.

'Give them a bit more time dude.'
So far I've given them roughly 6 months, and this kind of error happends allmost at every major up-date. The whoole mess of V5 was infact created by pre-release of something that should never had been released when it was.
'I learnt it from my teacher "Anything happened, happened for reasons". '
The only reason this happends over and over again is total lack of quality controle. The should replace whoever keeps on signing off theese releases premature long time ago!
Im going to leave the disaster version on and 'pass on the bill' if anything happends. Luckily I've got more PC's running, and NONE have been required to uninstall and re-install the security apps the last 12 months, and they get updated DAILY, not like PC Tools that think to believe malvare takes week-ends off!! There must be something seriously wrong with SD V5, if it may not be uppdated without completely uninstall and reinstall. Everyone knows what kind of mess that kind of activities leaves behind, nothing gets properly cleaned up!

Perhaps they should bring in some of the Registry Mechanic people to sort it out. I assume the developers of this product were recruited from Pinnacle when they were taken over by Avid, such is the quality of their work .

Reodor, I understand what has happenned on you. It is frustated. Before I started to use Spyware Doctor, I used other programs as well. but, comparing with Spyware Doctor, Spyware Doctor is still much better. I am not defending Spyware Doctor. this is just the fact.
Differnt people may have differnt experience. So far, Spyware Doctor is good for me. For you, Spyware Doctor may have caused "some problems". In total you may have given them more than 6 months. What i meant was, just give them a bit more time to fix this version. I can feel .258 is good as I said, I tried it before. Accidently on the site, download it and tried it. I still got the setup file on my pc.
Hopefully, .258 is back soon, officially available and with no error.

If this version of SD was a coin or a stamp, I would be keeping it for posterity! LOL!!
However, I'm waiting on the new version after trialling many combinations of products. Using Ghost, I've been investigating a replacement for some heavy-duty (and BTW, this is NOT a good thing) applications: Zonealarm Pro and SAV Corp and settled on Norton Internet Security 2007 for XP and Kaspersky Internet Security 7 for Vista (I run a dual-boot).
I have to say that SD put Norton to shame when Kaspersky AV did a cross OS scan and picked up vbstub.exe and system.exe files in my XP System32 folder. I re-instated them and went back to check with Norton's AV scanner: NADA!
One intelli-scan with SD 5 found it. Easy!
Needless to say, I don't want to run XP without Spyware Doctor.
Looking forward to the new release...
