Application Error
This happened once before, a day or so ago.
---------------------------
swdoctor.exe - Application Error
---------------------------
The exception unknown software exception (0x0eedfade) occurred in the application at location 0x7c812a5b.
---------------------------
OK Cancel
---------------------------
Best I can do with that shot.
When I hit "okay" last time, SD exited itself and had to be re-started.
This time it would not, even when I hit "okay".
I could not post to any forum anywhere.
Nothing showed when I typed.
E-mails were okay.
I had to open task manager (XP Pro, SP2, SD 4.1) and look.
SD was 65-74% of CPU.
I killed it, and everything worked.
Now, we have a problem here, folks.
It has just been "buggy", but this is getting close to "terminal".
DO NOT tell me to unload and re-load.
Good software doesn't need that.
Just tell me what's wrong and how to fix it.
Thanks,
Oh, crap.
I went looking to see if I could attach a file, and this popped up:
Popup Blocker
You are not fully protected against malicious ActiveX
and unwanted popups because Spyware Doctor is
not running. Would you like to start Spyware Doctor
now?
Okay, if I exit SD, as in shut it down, what component is still running to tell me that, and on a tab ON THIS FORUM no less?
It would not allow me to copy a shot.
Fast becoming an unhappy camper.

Seems like some of the 'old' V5 misbehaviors starts occuring on V4.1. I allmost get tempted to downgrade.
Your error message partly indicates a memmory problem, but that should not be the case unless You have a ton of other programs running when starting and shutting down.
Another option might be some other apps blocking at start-up and shut down. SD does not like to share the field with others. Note that they might be blocking by way of operation AND 'eating' memmory and cpu.
Try to minimize programs at start up and shut down. Run: XP - SD -Anti-virus and nothing else. Is the problem still there?
If not start adding one by one the programs You like to run at start-up and keep on monitoring both cpu and physical RAM usage particularly at start up.

This only occurs very occasionally, never at boot, so everything is running.
I have all unnecessay programs off the start menu.
I could start minimally, but I'd have to wait 24-48 hours before something happened, and I'd be unable to use this machine in that timeframe.

Hi Curmudgeon,
Could you please confirm the version of the refdb (DB version) this is displayed on the status screen. You could also attach a screenshot to this thread.
Also, before installing SDv4.1, did you uninstall SDv4.0?

3.07790 is DB.
Yes, uninstalled, checked for all folders removed before doing 4.1.
Screen shots when this happens are impossible.
I have e-mail, can CTRL-C to e-mail, but no posts to any IE forum, nothing.
And, it takes all that CPU when it happens.
Try again, but it's gonna be a while.
Twice in two days, no idea when it will strike again....
Updated last night.....

Thanks for the info. Don't worry about the screenshot. We'll investigate this and I'll get back to you.

AChen - This is the exact same set of problems I am having with SD 4.1 - I have experienced both the "popup blocker error message" and the "application error message".
Please see post http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=48278.
