Default Automatic Renewals: Suggestion for change

I renewed my SpywareDoctor subscription today. Nowhere on the renewal webpage was an opion to TURN OFF AUTOMATIC RENEWALS.

Another product that I also renewed today had the option to not automatically renew clearly displayed and it was easy to do,

So after renewing, I had to log into my account aned hunt around to find the option to turn off automatic updates. Then they send you and e-mail that you have to use the link in to confirm that you do not want automatic updates. Absurd.

Please change this:
1. Have an option to turn off automatic RENEWAL on the page you renew on.
2. Make it a simple click on the account page, and do not require a confirmation e-mail. How stupid you guys.

Thanks fo listening. I and a lot of other folks do not want anything automatically renewing...help out here folks add you post supporting my position.

I think you mean Autorenewal not automatic updates.

However, you are quite right and a lot has been said about this policy. At least now it's possible to go to myaccount and opt out of it fairly easily.

Default IT is NOT that easy Help me out guys with some support

you have to hunt aroung on my account to find the option--not at all obvious, took me several tries to find the option; then they send you and e-mail that you have to click on a link in the e-mail to confirm.

The e-mail also says that it will not be permanent for seven days ( I guess so that you can change your mind.).

I don't find this easy.

Default Yes, I used "my account," but >>

finding the option to disable automatic renewals is NOT obvious. You have to search for it among the various account tabs and then... read my original post.

Your post totally misses the point!

Default Automatic renewalls -see my thread on automatic updates!

see my other thread on automatic updates--I meant renewalls, posting this to clarify.

I can edit the text, but apparently canot change title, even though I could change it through advance option, it still displays the same?

There were many people who have complained about the auto-renewals and its great to see that PcTools are listening to the users on the forum, by providing this MyAccount page and allowing users to easily opt out of the auto renewal process. I just checked it out for the first time and it is very useful.

Hawkeyelom, I don't see how the process is difficult. I just clicked on My Licenses and then clicked on the license code and can easily modify this to cancel the auto renewal. All you have to do is look at the 'Subscription Status' and this tells you if its an auto renewal or manual renewal.

Default Yes, but they then send you an e-mail

which you then have to reply to in order to confirm that you want to to disable automatic renewall, and the e-mail tells you that it won't be permanent for seven days.

The e-mail they sent me (even though addressed correctly) was flaged as spam by my ISP, but I found it in their spam folder.

Glad you found it so easily on the my account page, I did not find it as easily as you. As you pointed out it takes several steps... In my opinion the option should be obvious and not require a confirmation e-mail.

PCTools is making it as difficult as possible to stop automatic renewalls, including not having it as an option when you renew in the first place.

Even though its not permanent for 7 days, if you agree that you want to go ahead, it eventually will get done Its good that you get sent a confirmation email, so you have a record of whats being changed... I guess they need to inform the customers of the change and need verification. I think this is alot better then before, as you have an option to do this yourself.

Hawkeyelom, I know where you are coming from. Actually, I only realised that you can change your renewal status after reading this thread. I have not really fiddle around "my account" yet and have not really follow the discussions on auto-renewal. I tot we need to send a ticket, or something like that, to get the status changed before this. Thanks guys for alerting me to this option.

Btw, did you have to pay US$29.95 for your renewal (which is the price of a new purchase). I always tot that renewal, especially auto-renewal, would be priced at a discount?????
