Default 176 has finally defeated me!

When I started Beta testing V5 I promised myself I would stick with it and not be tempted to revert back to V4.
Despite the conflict with F Secure ISS which came about with Beta 5 and remains unresolved I had more or less run every beta and release version of V5 albeit with e-mail, site and browser guard turned off - until today at least when a well behaved build 174 updated 176
As soon as I fired up Firefox CPU usage hit 100% and the system froze.
Eventually I managed to close the browser and thought perhaps it was the new cookie guard - but no same problem.
Ah! but now we have kernel compatibility mode that's the solution, so I activate this and rebooted.
Certainly it had an impact, when I started Firefox CPU went to 100% and stayed there even when I eventually closed the browser until I eventually managed to reboot.
So I broke my promise - I have now re-installed V4.
I really miss V5, the fast start up times and Intelliscans, so I hope its a trial separation and not a divorce.
I do look forward to the day when V5 will sit happily on my PC again and play nicely with the other software installed and V4 can go back into a well earned retirement.

XP SP2, SD V4, F-Secure ISS

Dear Saxel,

Sorry to read your story. One thing is for sure though, you have been an absolute 'warrior' with SD5 from the early stages. Nothing but admiration for your patience and perseverance, I would have thrown in the towel at the first hurdle, (I'm not very patient).

Perhaps once you have had a rest for a while with SD4, you might be pleasantly surprised when you reunite again with SD5 somewhere in the future.

Thanks for the link to the previous version.
Trouble is it will only try to update itself to 176 again! I know I can disconnect from the internet during install to prevent the initial update and then disable automatic updates and manually allow updates to the spyware database only.
But then it becomes a hassle. Instead I think I'll take Allibear's advice and stick with V4 at least for the present.
