Desktop and System Tray SD Icons are non-responsive
Hi,
2 days ago I've updated SD to the latest version
(5.0).
Download o.k., Installation o.k., initial scan o.k., Interface o.k.,
well everything was working.
The next time I switched my computer on I tried to open up SD but nothing happened.
The desktop icon and the system tray icon are unresponsive.
Run swdoctor.exe isn't working.
After a while SD icon in system tray displays a white cross in a red circle with the comment: PC Tools Spyware Doctor (disconnected).
swdoctor.exe and update.exe are present in Task Manager.
All SD exes are allowed by Norton Firewall.
I had no problems with the previous version. Why has everything gone "dead"?
The following programs (for a long time already) are also running: Norton Internet Security 2007, Windows Defender, Ad-Aware SE and SpywareBlaster. Cheers, kulaworld

Hi
Can you specify which version of SDv5 you are running? I experienced a similar problem with all versions up to 5.0.0.174 (current version)
If you are running a version prior to this, please try updating here (first you must shutdown SD, then uninstall, then install new version)

Just how many versions are they releasing in a matter of a few days?
Just checked, I actually have version 5.0.0.169 installed, which I downloaded and installed on 24.3.07.
I will uninstall it and try the .174.
I'm still on Dial-Up. Here goes another 2 hours. LOL
Wonder if we'll have another version tomorrow?
I'll keep you posted of any progress or otherwise.
Thanks mjq424

Hi
Fixes are coming out on a regular basis so version numbers are increasing quickly. I advise checking for notices on the forum regularly for updates.
I do not expect another version tomorrow, perhaps friday/monday

Yes, quite right, from now on I certainly will stay informed.
I will also stay optimistic and believe that those bugs and glitches will be fixed soon.
Well, Rome wasn't build in one day...
I had SD for a couple of years now and since last August I'm a paying subscriber.
Always thought this was a great program.
So far I only had a problem with SD preventing "CHKDSK" from running.
Anyway, better start that download now....
Cheers
