Default about your solution

I am a bit perplexed with "the solution" to the myriad problems with version 5.

How is re-releasing the program without an email guard or a site guard an adequate or acceptable solution?

Since most of my exposure comes via email, it seems that moving to version 5 would make me especially vulnerable.

Or is there some other way that SD5 would protect me from email-carried spyware?

Default Email Guard

Spyware Doctor version 4.0 didn't have email guard neither does any other AntiSpyware product I know. Obviously email guard is something PC Tools found to cause problems to some users. I am sure they will further test Email Guard and at some reintroduce it through the smart update. This is the sweet thing about Spyware Doctor, PC Tools can do that where other programs require the entire new version release. Spyware Doctor will still protect you against email malware through its other monitors and guards, it just won't be scanning out going emails for Spyware but than if you have Spyware Doctor running and scanning regualrly than you shouldn't have any Spyware on your System. I personally ran SD with Email Guard without any issues but I use Webmail so the Guard was useless on my PC, perhaps this is why I never experienced any problems. I hope this helps.

Yr Anti-Virus application will handle this task. I assume you have such an app?
If not, then try some of the free solutions available such as Comodo...

It should not be the job of an anti-spyware app to do this anyway!
