Thumbs down Problems with Version 5

I thought that I was the only one having real problems with Version 5 upgrade. That was, until I came across this deluge of dissatisfied customers in a similar position.

I my case I get a nauseating red pop up saying "Unable to connect to server" for the Smart update - try again later!!!!!

I run Norton, and if the issue is with them, then the onus is on PC Tools to get this resolved as it undermines the credibility of their product. If this unacceptable state of affairs continues then I will switch to a competitors product.

I am also extremely disappointed with the lack of help from PC Tools Support, I have received no assistance after 6 days of sending a request for help.

You may need to temporarily disable your firewall to perform a Smart Update or allow Spyware Doctor to access the internet through your firewall.

You may also need to configure your AntiVirus to allow Spyware Doctor's Smart Update to run.

There is a current known issue with Norton Internet Security 2006 & 2007 preventing Spyware Doctor from accessing the internet to perform a Smart Update. Temporarily disabling Norton Internet Security 2006 or 2007 will allow the Smart Update to occur.

There are no issues or bugs within Spyware Doctor itself preventing Smart Update and there are currently many Spyware Doctor users Smart Update right now.

It seems that the problem is specific to your PC and most likely another security program that needs to be configured to allow Smart Updates.
