SD 5.0.0.174 - My Experinece
I used the download link in the forums, which gave me the SD 5.0.0.174 without the A/V, which I didn't know at the time. I found this out when I ran the install, which detected my PCTools A/V program. I then went back to the PCTools web site and downloaded SD 5.0.0.174 with the A/V. I ran it, and it also detected my PCTools A/V program. It prompted me to uninstall it, which I allowed it to do.
The install of SD 5.0.0.174 with A/V went well. Afterwards, it automatically updated itself, and did a scan of my system. The scan took about 3 minutes and according to the summary 790,775 items were processed. No infections were found. Also during the install, it said I would need to reboot to complete the updates, etc. I did this after completing the scan.
Reboot went well, and SD 5.0.0.174 loaded quicker than previous versions of SD5 and SD4. So now, I will begin to surf the web, etc. more, but so far, I am pleased with this release.
I have it installed on an eMachines 4511, with 2.53 GHz Pentium 4 processor, and 1 GB of DDR Ram. I have Windows XP SP2.
Will update this post if things change, etc.

Yea i just upgraded my sd5 with antivirus, which i doubt doing in the begining because of all the negative feedbacks so far. But in the end, Like pedum has mentioned everything seems fine and up to scratch. It slows down my system just abit but this is expected with the realtime protection.

Just upgraded last nite, coz some guy in support told me not to rush it. He basically asked me to wait for 1 week after the release.
Upgrade it, Runs perfect. The only back draws is I need to actually familiarize myself with the product again. LOL
PS: I never expected their support reps asked me to wait before upgrading. Usually other company just asked their customer to upgrade straight away because they did not support it anymore (the older version). Keep up the great support!!!!

5.0.0.174 works great
The version 4 is still available for download on the PC Tools website. It is located http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/version4/. It states that this version is for Windows 98, however, it is the same version 4 prior to the release of 5.
I've just downloaded the 5.0.0.174 and what a remarkable different compared with previous versions. This one is much much faster and so far no problems with browsing the net with IE. All seems very well with this and quite happy with the new version.
BTW what error message are you receiving? Ive seen something similar to this. If i come across the thread I'll let you know.
Cheers,
Chippa

I want to give an update since I installed SD 5.0.0.174 with A/V yesterday. Everything seems to be working fine. Perhaps a bit of a delay on the loading of some web pages, but I am unsure at this point if it is SD, server usage, internet speed, etc. I use FireFox 99% of the time.
I set up a schedule for SD to run a full scan early this morning, while I was still asleep. Results of that scan: 903,920 items were processed. It took 1 HR 37 MIN 2 SEC to run the scan. Detected 31 infections of tracking cookings and advertising items.
Also, SD 5.0.0.174 appears to be freeing up memory it uses during the full scan, where SD4 wouldn't release all of it, or at least not nearly as much as this new release.
So far, so good with SD 5.0.0.174
