Unhappy PC Tools Antivirus Email Guard Result Tag

When I have the PC Tools Antivirus Email Guard On With It configured to send result tags it is saying the email is ok in an attachment but the body of the email is not delivered. Does anyone else have this problem?

If I turn off Email Guard and The Tag Option, I can get my emails again...but then have no Email Scanning?

Is this a bug or a configuration problem?

Is there a PDF User Manual on how to use PC Tools Antivirus or any other PC Tools Products?

The online help doesn't mention how to configure editting the tag and what are the variables that we can use in the tags in the registered version.

Thanks for help all.

jpb.

Default Sounds very weird

Hi jbp

Since version 3.1.0.14 which was released a couple of days ago via Smart Update, POP email scanning has been working for me with both OE and Thunderbird.

There is a known bug in OE (which occurs with other AV programs as well) whereby the 'tag', in the case of PCTAV being:

"No virus found in this incoming message
Checked by PC Tools AntiVirus (3.1.0.14 - 9.066.002).
http://www.pctools.com/anti-virus/"

is seemingly arbitrarily added to the message as an attachment, but in these cases the actual message is still there.

What email client are you using?

Online manual is at: http://www.pctools.com/anti-virus/help/ but it doesn't have much email troubleshooting info.

I beleive they roll back to 3.1.0.10. Therefore we still need to turn off Email Guard and Internet Guard on the version.

Default email scanning

Hi jbp

First of all, I'm sorry. The link I gave you for online help is in fact not much help at all. It's for PCTAV 2.0.2, not 3.1. That's why it doesn't cover email scanning. [Attn: Anthony, Simon:, It would be great to have this document updated.]

Are you using POP or IMAP? (I've only tried POP with OE and Thunderbird.)
I do also have Outlook 2003 on 2 PCs with PCTAV but they are both configured in 'Cached Exchange' mode so POP3 and IMAP4 accounts cannot be added.

As an experiment, can you try setting up your account(s) in OE and/or Thunderbird? (Don't forget to check 'Leave messages on server' if you're using POP.)

Jinih
Please clarify re: "roll back to 3.1.0.10." Attached is a screenshot post Smart update attempt, Sunday 11/03/07 5:01PM AEST. with everything (apparently) working as it should.

cheers
Pete
