Hi josy1982,

The new version of PCTAV is currently being tested and if everything goes well then this should be released within the next week or 2. Will let you know once I receive the release date information.

Hi
Will this updated version be available for SDv5 users with the AV plugin installed?

The upgrade for PC Tools AntiVirus will vary to that of the AV plugin. The SD + AV Plugin includes the same database as the PCTAV. So any updates to the database will also be updated with the AV Plugin. However, any settings or changes made to the PCTAV GUI will not be updated with the AV plugin, as it is sharing SD's GUI + the virus definitions. The Onguard tools will also vary, the AV plugin does not incorporate all the tools from PCTAV, hence any changes made here may or may not be updated.

Hey Josy if you like you can download Spyware Doctor 5 beta from http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/beta
Then request PC Tools Anti-Virus plugin for SD. You end up having SD and AV as one.

As far as i know, SD and AV are still going to be 2 seperate progs. It is, however, possible to use AV plugin with SDv5 (i believe SDv5 will be released later this week).

If you are using SDv5 you can also download the AV plugin. This will give you both databases for SD and AV. Meaning when you scan it will scan for both Spyware and Viruses. That is called the SD + AV package and its all included with the SD subscription.

However, the PCTAV is a standalone product. It has its own GUI and has many settings compared to the SD + AV. More OnGuard tools and so on which the AV plugin doesnt.

I hope this helps.
