Default On Guard protection is LIMITED

Hello.

I recently had to re-install PC tools AntiVirus because it kept crashing on startup. I downloaded the version from Download.com. This version seems to have much more of a square version but most importantly the On Guard protection says it is LIMITED !!!!!

It used to say it was ON. What does this mean? How do I rememdy this?

Can anyone help me?

Thankyou.

Peter.

Hi echoman, AV will display Onguard protection is 'LIMITED' when one or more of the Onguard tools are OFF. To turn all Onguard tools ON, simply click on OnGuard and then click on each of the tools and make sure that they are all ON.

Default "LIMITED" is default setting for good reason.

Hi Andie & Peter
I don't recommend you turn on Internet Guard. They are "Off" by default because many people find they severely slow down their PC (Unless the latest .LSP included in Smart Update a couple of days ago has fixed this.)

Hello Andie/Pete

Thanks for that - I missed the menu. I think I will leave it off. It is VERY slow with it on. Is this a bug in the program?

Peter.

Default Is it a bug?

In a word...Yes.
It's been noted a few times e.g. http://www.pctools.com/forum/showthread.php?t=44772

The most notable thing is Outlook express worked fine.

The web browsers seems to have not the ability to connect to the Internet.

When I turned off the Internet Guard, everything goes fine.

Please fix this bug quickly.
Let's hope the "new version" comes soon.
