Default Windows XP Fatal Error on virus scan

Hi there,

I have recently installed the free version of the PC Tools Anti-Virus program. When it was all installed I decided to perform a full virus scan of my system. After about 1-2 mins of scanning I got a blue screen of death style error screen reporting that a vital system thread had been unexpectadly terminated and to reboot in safe mode to remove/repair problem software/hardware. For information my operating system is Windows XP home edition. Can anyone advise me if they can remedy this problem and what the cause might be. There does appear from first impressions to be a serious problem with this software

Regards

Mike Jones

Appears to be a conflict with PCTAV and another application, reason for the death screen.

Run PCTAV in safemode with networking.

What other programs are you using?
