There are two red circles with white x's in the middle of them in my client's system tray. They both display this message about every five minutes.
Windows has detected spyware infection! It is recommended to use anispyware tools to prevent data loss. Windows will now download and install the most up-to-date antispyware for you. Click here to protect your computer from spyware. The really perplexing issue is that my client uses Nortons Security and has no Windows Anti-Spyware tools on their machine. Any help would be appreciated. "Computers are almost as amazing as the people that help me fix them" Thanks. |

I think that is some of those rogue antispyware related messages. So you have spyware infection which tries to convince you to load even more spyware. This Windows Anti-Spyware doesn't refer to Microsoft's Defeder or other legal antispyware. Here is list of some known rogue antispyware products:
1. SpyAxe for desktop hijacks, stealth installs and deceptive, aggressive advertising. 2. SpySheriff for stealth installs, desktop hijacks and aggressive advertising. 3. PSGuard for stealth installs, desktop hijacks and aggressive advertising. 4. WorldAntiSpy for stealth installs, desktop hijacks and aggressive advertising. 5. Spy Trooper for stealth installs, desktop hijacks and aggressive advertising. 6. Razespyware for stealth installs, desktop hijacks and aggressive advertising. 7. SpywareNo and its clone SpyDemolisher for stealth installation and deceptive aggressive advertising. 8. WinAntiVirus and its companion WinAntiSpyware 2005 for hijacking, aggressive advertising and inappropriate collection of personally identifying information. 9. SlimShield tied with Winhound Spyware Remover for hijacking and stealth installation. 10. Spyware Bomber brought to us by the same folks behind Enternet Media, the spyware company shut down recently by the FTC. |

I had the same problem again.
I used spybot search&destory and also adware aprogram from lavasoft and it helped to get rid of somethings that where wrong in my computer but for the rest i had to download a trail of some most recent antispyware programs and then i ran them and that got rid of it. Once i had it gone i got rid of the trail software and lets hope that i will never need it again because i know how much of a pain this issue is... Anywayz hope this helps Adam...... |
