Default IE6 error message -"page cannot be displayed" (W2K)

Hi all,

I have had problem for about the last mounth
When I open IE I get error message "page cannot be displayed" error message with "cannot find server or DNS error"
at the bottom.

If I type address (ex. www.microsoft.com) or from favorites it is open ok.
The problem when I open IE only
I have try change home page to other site , but it is not help

I'm using Internet Explorer 6
Windows 2000 SP3

I try

Uninstall and Install IE6
Check tcp/ip settings and DNS and reinstall tcp/ip
Delete temprarty internet files and del History
check winsock

Any advance or possible help will be greatly appricated

Hi Niko,

If you haven't already, please get Spybot S&D to clear out most of the spyware.
Short tutorial and download link here:
http://www.tomcoyote.org/hjt/
and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, double-click HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here.

Most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.
