Done SpywareDoc 'become a resource hog?

Hey, pretty new to the forums but i'll get right to it

When i first installed and ran swdoc it only took about 6000k when idle and not scanning, when it was just in the background 'on guard' so to speak.

But then i realised today that it fluctuates wildly from anywhere from 14,000 to 25,0000k or even peaks higher then that at times.

I checked my friends pc that also runs it and his was peaking at 54,000k, and well i'm wondering WHY? Does it use up more system resources as the program gets bigger with auto updates maybe?

Any suggestions or explanations would be great. Just wondering if we're alone in our swdoc's turning into a resource hog.

Your right, I no longer run it at startup, opting to run scans periodically. I realise the dangers, but I need to run other applications too !

hey,

sometimes SD will use up alot of resources, this may be the result of one of the SD tools.

you can try to disable some of the tools to help resolve this issue.

This is resolved with SD version 5.0 which will be released soon.

As a workaround, you can disable the tool that is using up your pc's resources.

Hey, i was going to PM u in private but i'm thinking if you can help with this problem its something everybody should be able to read. but...

What SD tools or options can u turn off to lesson its resource devestation? I went into the SD tools and by default i have neither one of them active or using them (malware det & SDnetwork) .... so the only options i could see making the system resources less would be turning off 'onguard'?

And if you turn that well it really for me defeats the whole purpose of SD cuase then its not an active guard against mal & infections its just one that catches them after they're already infected your pc and deletes them. So any other options i/people can turn off to lesson its hunger for resources that youuknow of?

hey,

It may be one tool that is using your systems resources. Take for example "cookie guard", this may be constantly scanning for cookies, therefore using your systems resources. With cookies, everytime you perform a scan with SD, the scan removes all cookies anyhow. So I normally turn this feature OFF.

You can disable individual tools within the SD onguard features.

Onguard-> select a tool-> click on ON, as this should now display as off.
