Hi,

Ok, so here's the skinny: Firstly, it this issue may be cleared up in 4.6.0.4, our beta.

If not, one of the developers thinks that the programs (McAfee, G-Data, and the like) are disabling the DiskPerf monitoring feature. To re-enable it, open an Administrator-level command prompt (run as administrator in vista), and type this: "diskperf.exe -y" (sans quotes obviously), and then reboot.

This should solve the DiskPerf issue.

I've had both my pc's crash recently with perfdisk warnings preceding the crash. I just had a second crash on my laptop today. After each crash, I must run chkdsk because the file system becomes corrupt. I've been running 4.5.0.24 on both pc's but upgraded the laptop to 4.6.x today hoping for a resolution on a hunch since I read about spyware doctor having similar problems after googling about perfdisk. I just found this thread. Any updates on this? Are my pc crashes resulting from ThreatFire? Should I run the command "diskperf.exe -y" on both pc's? BTW, is there a space between exe and -y?

Edit: I ran the "diskperf.exe -y" command on both pc's. Response stated that the counters are enabled automatically on demand and also the IOCTRL was enabled.

Insights and help greatly appreciated, planet

4.6.0.19 should have this issue fixed. I've run it in my McAfee system and my G-Data system and neither had the Writeback error experienced by the PerfDisk program that causes this issue.

And there is a space. And since you got the message, it means that DiskPerf is enabled.

4.6 should solve this issue. If you're experiencing a similar issue with 4.6 please let us know so we can look into it.
