Default Have v8, "error downloading list of updates..." and another question

Hello, Thanks for the help;

"Error downloading list of updates. Please try again later."
Will I get v9 with this update?

My other question is... This does everything I want but identify what the background processes are and I REALLY would like to have the minimum number possible. I don't know why that bugs me so much, OCD I guess?

I would spend more money just for a program that removed them from start up, and stopped them from returning after I end the process. Is there such a thing???

Thanks again,
Win XP proSCHOOL, HA

Default processes

OK, I found the services utility but when I restart the computer, the same 50 or so processes are still running, I tried to capture the task manager screen and post it, but no luck. They are mostly small, but I have no clue what they are. There's all the obvious ones for apple, google, AVG, etc.

hi,

You will need to reinstall v9 over the current version as the Smart Updates will not upgrade you to the latest version. RM9 is available from www.pctools.com/registry-mechanic/
It looks as though you have another program that could be blocking the updates. Probably your Firewall or some other security app you have running. Might want to add the processes to the allow the updates to go through.

If you want to monitor the processes, check out Process Explorer. This shows just about everything.
