Default Scan Time 7.0.0.508

How long is a full scan supposed to run? On the older version, I'd skip scanning archives and the full scan would go for only an hour and forty minutes. Today, I did a full scan and it was over three hours. I had the 'scan archives' thing on the lowest setting, I did a disk clean up and CCleaner. Any suggestions?

The Intelli-Scans do run a lot faster, though.

I suggest that you run the scan archives once at the full setting... may take some time and then after that set it to none.

This is something that you need to do only of you are downloading a lot of programs.

I do mine every 6 months.

It will improve scan times.

I rarely download programs. The last one was CCleaner several months ago.

Then set archives to none. Works for me.

Me too. I'm all about short full scan times!

The thing to remember, is to set it on full for a full scan at least once per year.

Caution is good.

Hi, all. I too found that the full scan time was considerably longer than that of the previous version. As I mentioned on a previous thread, I went back to using version 6.1.0.448 as it seems to work better with my system. To each there own I guess.

Full scan time on my system is taking 10-20% longer while intelli scan is faster.

When i downloaded v7 it kept most settings but for reasons known only to SDAV it changed the priority of SDAV to a lower priority (hence a slower scan).
Since i do full scans when I'm working out and not home, I changed the SDAV priority back to its full top priority and reduced scan time a bit. Still the scan does take a bit longer on my system vista business with two auxiliary hard drives.

I'm more concerned about the scanning delay that occurs or whatever is occurring when I send something out on my home network.

The slight increase in scan times probably relate to the increase in the signature database. As you can see, there is a big difference from the previous version.

Edge that was my first thought when I saw the way larger data base. But then why does it take way less time to do the intelli scan?
