Default Leading antivirus / spyware software for download

I m fed up with anti virus software over the years, before 8 months i bought kaspersky antivirus it was not updating, i bought trend three times it updates then i need to reinstall it, then i have decided to download avg antivirus thats also not removing spyware, i dont get a complete solution of both removing virus and spyware, tell me which is leading antivirus software now available in the market.

Well, there are two things to consider... active protection and scanning removal.

So far, Spyware Doctor with Antivirus is at the top of the heap for protection for both spyware and viruses, generaly called malware.

Better to stop the buggers instead of cleaning them up.

Care to provide your source? av-comparatives doesn't even have PC Tools ANTIVIRUS in the list. However PC World rated it at #5. I'd hardly call this "top of the heap".

Cons:
* Purposely neglects to detect spyware
* Poor heuristic detection


This is what happens when you put virus definitions into the antispyware product, instead of spyware definitions into the antivirus product (i.e. avast, Avira). It gets overlooked by av-test.org and av-comparatives.

Too bad because I would like to see how well PC Tools is at catching viruses as compared to others.
