The issue is that when I click on a web link in an email message in Thundirbird, the browser (Firefox) doesn't start up to show the page - or if it is already running, it doesn't open the page in a new tab. Also Thunderbird now shows the "working in the background" cursor, and if I select a different email message, this is highlighted but never gets displayed in the message pane. If I attempt to shut down Thunderbird, the window closes, but it continues running in the background, and has to be killed from task manager. This behaviour persists until eventually I am forced to reboot. Other symptoms include menus and hints for taskbar icons no longer being displayed.

My best guess is that SD is somehow regarding Thunderbird's attempts to open web pages as a "threat", and blocking it, thereby causing one of its threads to hang. Although if so I'm baffled that it is intermittent.

Any ideas please>
I have tested this, but couldn't recreate the problem with Thunderbird. All the emails and links are opening in a new tab with FireFox.
Is anything showing up in the history file in SD?
If so, could you attach a hsitory file to this thread?
Could you also try disabling IntelliGuard to see if this helps.
