While entering the NoInternetIcon value in my Win 98 registry, I came across the value listed below.
Key: HKEY_USERS\DEFAULT\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\Explorer
Value Name: ClassicShell
Data Type: Binary
Value: 01 00 00 00
Does anyone know what this does? I presume that the value listed means ON and that if the one were a zero that would mean OFF. Are there other valid values? What do they do?

Just a wild guess.
Would that be the switch between active desktop and old style Windows?

well nothing happened. Actually the entry was not originally there. So i created it. first with the values of 01 00 00 00 then with the values of 00 00 00 00. in both cases nothing changed.
