PC Tools ThreatFire New Version Development

Hello all and especially PC Tools Staff.

With the approach of yet another new Microsoft Operating system version in Windows 8, and given the popularity of both Windows XP and Windows 7, will PC Tools soon be actively developing an even better improved version of their unique Behavioral Blocker product Threatfire ?

Over the run of matters, CyberHawk preceded and transformed into the New Threatfire which is as far as i know, one of only 2 true pure Behavioral Blockers in this particularly unique market. It's competitor Emsisoft Mamutu still enjoys active success either separately sold or integrated into their Anti-Malware solution.

Given all the buzz over the ever constant need for an in-between intelligent security solution to intercept zero-day threats and offer a solid compliment to guard between consumers AntiMalware & AntiVirus choices or Suites, doesn't it make perfect sense to continue to improve on this rather exotic but definitely useful innovation for PC users as applies today, and especially with the introduction of new Windows 8 looming in the near future.

You will be able to run ThreatFire on Windows 8, because the new system will include a compatibility mode with Windows 7 and older.

thats a joke... its not the whole truth! ... if it would be constantly updated, then Threatfire had no problems with some "old" or well known Rootkits like zeroaccess and so on ... like other BB like Mamutu...Mamutu is really constantly updated ...

but i am still hoping that it will better in future ... but its really really bad that threatfire is not really more developed since 2009 ...

Why is PCTools team leaving this once excellent behavior blocker to rot? It's so sad to observe a very godo and promising tool to just die for no apparent reason. Signatures update or not, not updating teh program itself and its core features to cover latest malware is a rather bad excuse for not doing that.
I mean, if Symantec bought PCTools, why don't they just make up their mind if they want to run this franchise or not. Currently it seems like PCTools brand exists but no one gives a crap about it in the company.

I'll have to disagree. There were no "constant" updates to ThreatFire.

I can see that this must be a dead end for TF. It can also be concluded that the discontinuation of the development of TF is due to the acquisition of Symantec of PC Tools. The R&D Team of PCT may have been directed to give their full attention to the development of the traditional antivirus program which makes sense in a business perspective.

Why would you develop something that can end the very legacy that you have started? TF in a nutshell is promising, it holds potential of an intelligent program that can intercept or otherwise identify new threats even before the traditional AV can, this can happen given that it is developed to its full potential, with this matter at hand I can say that developing this product can pretty much put an end to the traditional AV line of business.

TF's development can guarantee a great diminish in the profit made by the traditional AV.
