After running through all the instructions and various scans I have bitten the bullet and reformatted.

My thanks to those who gave instructions etc, but I was not prepared to spend any more time trying to resolve the situation.

I am sorry to hear that you decided to re-format and install Windows again. I hope that my troubleshooting steps weren’t too long or too hard to understand.
