Not only is the link for PC Tools Firewall Plus download link missing from the homepage, there is no Antivirus Free listed on the products either. Maybe PC Tools is trying to make some extra cash on the holidays by hiding their free products.

What they do not realize, is that while many people are computer illiterate and want an "all in one" product, there are many who do not want that and prefer to choose which product does what for them, individually, because one company may make a product that's better at one of the tasks that a package product would handle than another and so, they may not want to have everything in one, from the same company.
Nor do they get that there are many people who would have paid something for the PC Tools Firewall Plus product, if they kept it going and made it a pay product, like for $19.95 or something. So instead of making money off of both crowds, they have now, without warning, completely abandoned the people who already know that they want their firewall to be the PC Tools Firewall product, but who simply will not convert to an "all in one" product, just to keep one part of it. That's a shame!. It's bad business and it's just plain silly! (:
I would have bought their firewall if it went pay. But I do not want the rest of what's in their "Internet Security" package. I have other individual products for each of those other tasks, that I know work better. So now, instead of making me into a paying customer, they will not receive any of my money at all. And when I have to update my firewall, I will have to search for something else that is standalone, that allows me to try it and if I like it, then buy it, which I would have done with the PCTFW if they charged.
I did not use the PCTFW because it is free. I used it because after I tried a few, I liked it the best! And it is the easiest one to use! Oh well, what a shame. (:Last edited by GiantWaffle; 12-11-2011 at 02:37 PM.

It's good to know it can still be downloaded, but that doesn't mean they are updating it, if there is a bug and there is no way to know if it's newer, since there is no version number listed (we know it's V7, but there's more sub-numbers after that) on the page, nor in the file name. We wouldn't know if it's newer than what we have or not, unless we install it. This is probably just a leftover for folks who already have it and can find it.

Yes it is good to know you still can find download links in the forums, but most users don't come here. They go to the homepage and on the drop down menu of products both free firewall and free antivirus is not there. Threatfire is the only free product listed on the products drop down menu. I already have the links bookmarked or I would have to search the forums to find them. I believe PC Tools is trying to fade away these free products instead of taking an advantage of using them for advertisements for their paid products like Avira, Avast and AVG, etc.
Thanks.Security Software Updater
