After setting repair to check the disk on startup, chkdsk runs as expected then the PC reboots as expected, but adter the Windows flash screen the screen goes black as normal but just stops there and wont progress.
The only restart option that works is the "Use last known good boot".
Consequently it I restart again the same process happens as the chkdsk request has not been cleared from where ever it is stored.
How can I manually clear the chkdsk reboot option and how can you fix the software?
Regards
Allan

DS uses the Windows chkdsk. Could you try booting into Last known good config and try a Windows chkdsk? See this link.

To stop CHKDSK from running at boot do the following:
Open Regedit
Navigate to HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager
Change the BootExecute entry from:
autocheck autochk * /.....
to:
autocheck autochk *
That should do it.
