We are working on this. Although for my Win7 64Bit system, Skype has been running for a few days now without reboot and no crashes...

We have a repeated case here though so we are going to try and catch the cause of the issue.

I reverted to TF 4.6.0.19 and Skype works faultlessly.

I would prefer that TF allowed the user to be able to elect to permit (or prevent) product updates while still receiving database updates. It is surely impossible to be certain that every software application will react well to a new version of TF and therefore I think that this fallback would be valuable in cases like this one with Skype.

The freezing of TF at version 4.1 for Windows 2000 and the promise of continued database updates for that frozen version indicates that the developers have already allowed for database compatibility between versions.

Apart from the Skype problem, I have noticed that the occasional error messages at shutdown that I have long been accustomed to seeing since I first used CyberHawk, warning of such events as some service or other being unable to read memory, have ceased. This suggests that TF 4.7.0.11 is tidier in operation than previous TFs.

Default Skype crashes with the latest threatfire update

I have Windows Vista Home Edition 32bit, the latest Skype, and Threatfire. I have no problem logging into the Skype. If I do not make any further action, my skype would not crash, but as soon as I make a phone call and once the connection has been established, Skype would crash within few seconds. For PCtools engineers, please try to make a phone call using Skype and see what happens. The only solution for me was uninstalling Treatfire for now. Uninstalling Threatfire fixed my problem. I will reinstall Treatfire after you guys handled the issue. Thank you.

We have successfully reproduced this, and are currently trying to find a solution.

    Default Skype compatibility issue

I'm having the same issue on Windows 7 Ultimate Build 7600 32bit. It ran great when I was on XP-MCE S/P3. Whenever I start Skype it will crash within a few seconds of attempting any type of call video, chat or audio. It will also crash if someone attempts to call me via video, text or audio. Skype will however not crash if started and left to run without any calls made or received.

    System specs:

    Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit Build 7600
    Asus P5LP-LE (BIOS ver. 3.19)
    Pentium D 930 3.0Ghz
    2GB RAM PC2 DDR2-5300 667mhz
    Radeon HD 4670 512mb (CCC-9.11)
    Sound Blaster Audigy SE
    Maxtor 6L300S0 HDD
    DVD/CD-RW DL HP-840B
    DVD/CD-ROM
    Thermaltake PSU 430w
    Avira AV 9.0.0.415
    Malwarebytes (free)
    SuperAntiSpyware (free)
    Threatfire 4.7.0.11

We have narrowed this down to a specific part of the program.

We are working on a solution, and are hoping to implement this fix soon.

    Stay tuned.

I had the same problem on Win 7 x64, but since I enabled compatibility mode Vista SP2 Skype is running fine.

Thanks for working so quickly on this. I will happily reinstall threatfire once the issue is resolved!

I am not sure if you still want this information now that you have identified the problem, but I would like to update you on the details of my symptoms.

The 25-30 minutes I mentioned is for Skype sitting there doing nothing. If I start a voice call or try to write a chat message, Skype will usually crash within 5-10 seconds as others have said.

A clean reinstall of ThreatFire 4.7 (after using the RemoveThreatFire(3.0) tool) did not resolve the problem. I could not revert to TF 4.6 because I didn't have the installer available.
