I dont think theres a manual update for the AV. You can only retrieve this via the smart updates.
But if you want to copy over the most updated file from the PCTAV, you can do this by copying over the avdb folder. This is a little different to sd, because the sd database is just the one file.

c:\program files\pc tools antivirus\avdb
if you have the sd+av, you can also get the db from c:\program files\sdav\avdb
Im not sure whether this will be available via a download link as there is the SU feature and its easier that way.

Hello every body
Well right now at this point, the only way to get the database is to do a smart update. We don't have any link, where you can download the database for PC Tools AntiVirus.

Hi entrohi,
The 2 files for the SD database are RefDB.old and RefDB.bin2. We do not have a link for manual updates at this stage and can only be obtained via the Smart Updates. If you have problems with the SD updates due to ZA blocking the updates, allow the following processes swdoctor.exe, update.exe and swdsvc.exe in the Firewall.

I have a couple of PC's. One has internet access, the other not but they are both on the same network. I'd like some comments on whether this is a valid way to update the non- internet connected PC's virus definitions with the ones from the internet connected one.
I'm using psservice from Sysinternals which lets me control services on another machine. I have shared out the Updates directory on the non-internet connected machine. Using psservice, I stop "PC Tools AntiVirusEngine" on the non-internet connected PC. Give it 20 seconds to stop. Then copy over *.* from the updates directory of the internet connected machine to the non-internet connected machine. Then restart the service on the non-internet connected machine.
I'm stopping and restarting the service because I guess this is the only way for it to read the definitions. I guess they are all held in memory?
Is this a viable method? It seems to work although the user interface doesn't seem to know there has been an update.
I have a proxy server running on the internet connected PC. It would be so much better if PC Tools could be configured to get it's updates from a proxy ....
Anyway, any comments?

Pctools Antivirus 6 Update
This is how to update def files:
1. Run smartupdate on pc with pctools antivirus
on machine with web connection.
2. Go to C:\Program Files\PC Tools AntiVirus.
3. Copy Updates folder to a flash drive.
4. Take flash drive & go to machine to be updated.
5. Close tray icon for antivirus.
6. Stop service in service mananger for pctools antivirus.
7. Go to C:\Program Files\PC Tools AntiVirus
8. Delete Updates folder.
9. Replace deleted Updates folder with one on flash drive.
10. Start pctools antivirus in service manager.
11. Startup pctools antivirus program icon.
12. Check under status that database version is the
same as the one on machine that ran smartupdate.
13. Note that on machine just updated that smartupdate
will still not show that it has been run. This should not matter as long as step 12 was ok.
