Hi All,
I've posted this question in google groups and at spyware forum but haven't really gotten helpful information or results.
When I search google and I click on a results, I go to webcry, then end up on a list of links website like Netster. Sometimes I even see the website I want but I'm whisked away to Shoptopia.
The destination site seems to rotate between the same 6 or 7 sites and if I click on the result enough time I can get there.
Spyware Doctor (current verion and definitions) tells me that many of these sites like searchfeed.com are known bad sites.
I can search YaHoo and many other engines with no problem.
My laptop is WXP Pro SP2
AVG Free addition (current)
Spyware Doctor (current)
IE 7.0.5730.1
Office 2003 Pro
YaHoo Messenger
Google Toolbar 4.0.160.4978
This is getting pretty frustrating.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried using an antivirus to scan your computer for malware? Something installed on your computer could be redirecting you. Also, try to clear your Internet Cache.

Google HiJack VundoFix
I'm a little pissed off that Spyware Doctor couldn't prevent this or even find it after I was infected. I keep my AV signatures up to date and do complete system scans with Spyware Dtor and AVG every week.
Hey! PCTools if you are out there add this to you database!!
My problem was fixed by VundoFix found at http://www.atribune.org/content/view/24/2/
The infected file was ocfrrbc.dll in my system32 folder.
At least for now my Google searches are back to normal.
Cheers
George

So was this infection spyware or a virus? And what's the difference between the two anyway?

Hijacked Browser
Personally, I believe hijacked browsers are in a league of their own.
Fighting viruses and spyware is a full-time job for these guys. It isnt as simple as just making a fix, because two days later the virus/ spyware creator has made their adjustments as well.

Hijacked browser is spyware?
If this is so, you would think that spyware programs would have a bit more luck getting rid of them. LOL! Not that I am denying that they are categorized as spyware, just that they can be a bit more tricky, and their interference is much more noticeable. People can have a lot of spyware on their pc and never know it; one hijacked browser and they are calling me for help.

hi
this is a probably a new threat that spyware doctor doesn't cover yet. it should be covered soon.
no antispyware can cover 100% of threats (except perhaps hijackthis)
