When I click the icon to activate Internet Explorer, the window opens, but then it closes immediately.

After clicking the icon enough times, the window stays open. As far as I can tell, this occurance is completely random (and rare).

Although it's possible to get the window to stay open and then browse the Internet, this takes a lot of patience and is very inconvenient.

I was running Internet Explorer 6 when the problem started. Since then, I upgraded to 7 Beta 2, but that didn't fix the problem.

I've tried installing FireFox and Opera, but they each had several large flaws which prevented me from deciding to use them as replacements.

I've tried re-installing IE, and resetting. I've also rebooted in Safe Mode with Networking allowed, and the problem didn't go away.

Has anyone heard of this problem before? Any advice?
