Cant view thumbnails of gifs

Ever since I installed Corel 4 on my Win 98 system, I have not been able to see thumbnails of jpegs and gifs in explorer (when thumbnail view is enabled). Recently, I was able to re-enable thumbnail view for jpegs with the command "Regsvr32.exe /i shdocvw.dll". But still, gifs are bit displaying their thumbnails. Also IE does not display a gif at all - it just shows an icon of two boxes with a cross at the centre. Gifs are shown nornally while surfing. The problem arises only if I try to view individual gifs in IE. I now have upgraded to IE 5 but the problem remains.

Anyone got a fix for this?
