I use ZoneAlarm.
ZoneAlarm does filter every recieved TCP/IP packet. You should see some slowdown. The bandwidth would then appear to decrease.

I use zone alarm with adsubtract I like the setup
Adsubstact decrease page download time by getting rid of the junk......
one tweak that I did to the system.ini
is to add these line
I tried to half the the 16384 but it opened the catch up all the way (don't know why just went back to 16) by making the catch smaller it speeded things up took allot of the work off of the kernal processor usages percentage.......... I guess I must have hit a low limit and something overwrote it so I stayed with 16
also this tweak opened up more ram for programs rnning so the swap files doesn't have to kick in so soon...... I saw big improvement with this twaek
also right now i'm online with all my normal start up stuff open and running I have no swap file in use yes I have it enabled and I have 122 meg of free mem left I got 256Mb installed
also what I see by using these values my modem has more processer time to itself so the pages load faster...........
[vcache]
MinFileCache=0
MaxFileCache=16384
[386enh]
ConservativeSwapfileUsage=1
MinSPs=4
Thanks
Mac!!!
This Is just my opinion
So if it stinks wait for another one
