Hello fellow window-ites
I just upgraded my system from a PIII 700 to an AMD XP 1500 but now the drop-down menus in Excel 97, Word 97 & Powerpoint take up to 10 seconds to drop down, depending on how long they are. They come down in little steps. I tried turning off animations, but it made no difference. Try counting out TEN SECONDS every time you want to use something on a menu. Gad.
Once they're down, everthing is instantaneous, but nothing else can happen until they get all the way down.
They seemed to get a bit slower when I changed from an old P 200 to the PIII 700, but I thought that I must have been dreaming, and ignored it, but this is getting ridiculous....
At this rate, when I do my next processor upgrade, the menus may NEVER come down - at least not in MY lifetime...
Anyone have any ideas? No other programs seem to exhibit this goofy behavior - only Office 97 programs. Other than this, Office programs seem to run fine.
