Monitor screen fades to black. After shutdown everything works fine for a few days then it repeats. Have Win98SE and EV500 monitor. Fan is running. Any ideas?

do u have magnets near your monitor. (eg. speakers next to your monitor) try moving it away from the monitor. If your monitor is relatively new u can use the degauss option to refresh your monitor.

acyml- I do have speakers next to my monitor, however they have been there for 4 years and the problem just started. Anyway I shall move speakers. Thanks for the advice.

moved speakers, did not help. Any other suggestions?
