Two days ago, I noticed something strange, my icons and cursors folder in the windows folder in Explorer, displays the same icon for all of these files.

I have checked file types and they are in there, what I need to know is if someone can tell me the actual file types and also what should be in the Registry HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT for ico and cur?

And why have all the icons and cursors got a standard icon and not all the individual ones that where there two days ago?

These things happen unfortunately... you have a corrupt ShellIconCache cile in your windows directory. Download TweakUI (make sure you get the appropriate version for win95 or 98) and select "Rebuild icons" under the "repair" tab. Sometimes you have to delete that corrupt ShellIconCache file first. Then reboot.

I forget where to get TweakUI. Try snooping around http://www.arc.ab.ca/individuals/erkamp/win95.htm

TweakUI is on your Windows 98 CD (but not on Second Edition, as Microsoft have withdrawn it).
Not sure exactly where, but Find Files should get it for you
