shutting down windows

When I shutdown Windows 98 I recieve an error message with Ping at the top of it and it says something about how this is an MS DOS application and I should close the program through DOS. I don't really know what this program is or how to get rid of it. What can I do to stop recieving this message every time I shut down my computer? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Tap the Alt_Ctl_Del keys before shutting down next time and see if WinOldApp is running in the Task List. Post back.
