I am having a bit of trouble using shortcuts keys, and so am not sure that I completely understand their use.
When I right click and choose properties of a shortcut, under the 'shortcut' tab, there is an option to add a 'shortcut key' which I assume when I press will open the program (i.e. Ctrl + Alt + O would open Outlook). Is this correct? Because I have tried to get this to work and it never does, I set a shortcut key to whatever, reboot and press the key and nothing happens. So, I am thinking I do not understand this feature.
But, if I have got the right end of the stick, how do I get it to work and how do I get a list of shortcut keys already in use?
I am running WinME, IE6.

Thanks,
Killermink

I might not understand your question, if you already have a shortcut on your desktop, just double click and it will open the program. If you are trying to create a shortcut, then right clicking and choosing to create a shortcut should work. Sorry if I wasn't any help! Maureen

Go to Help, both within Windows and IE, enter shortcuts in the index tab which will bring up extensive lists of the shortcuts already available.
I printed out 5 pages of them. /images/forums/icons/shocked.gif /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

This advice is free.
You might only get what you paid for.

No, he is saying that his keyboard shortcut (on the shortcut tab of any shortcut (.lnk file) ) isn't working.

I was having problems like this in windows 95 sometimes, but never in nt4, 2000, or XP. I know this doesn't help you since you are in ME, but i have not put up with ME for long enough to learn it. I have had more problems with ME than anything else.

I am on Win98 1st and have the same problem. They work after I create them and in the past they had continued to work. Something changed??? and now they will work until I reboot.
I have downloaded but not tried "WinKey" it is supposed to work very well.

Try something easy, like a shortcut to explorer.exe
You can't use ones that are assigned (built-in to Windows) unless you remap the keyboard.

Ok, tried it with Internet Explorer and it worked (where it hasn't before) then tried it with Outlook and it didn't (using different key). THEN tried it on a different shortcut to Outllok and it did. It appears that they will work if I assign it through a start menu shortcut, but not on shortcuts anywhere else. Weird huh? Well, at least it works... though I have yet to reboot.. will keep you updated.

p.s. how do I find the ones I have assigned by my constant trial and error without checking every shortcut and also those ones assigned by windows?
