Restore My Active Desktop

Is there any thing I can change in the registry So, when I restart the explorer it will automaticaly restore to My active DeskTop......
Since I downloaded the IE 6.0 update from the microsoft site the Internet Explorer seems to hang up allot..... And sometimes I have to restart the desktop explorer Too....... I also found a site that had a program to redisplay the system tray Icon after the explorer restart... It is suppose to do it automaticaly..... I'm testing it out just installed it

It's a well-known fact that Active Desktop causes problems and is a waste of resources.

Are you sure you realy need it?

And why add more programs that take more resources to fix problems when they can be avoided easily?

Logging off and back on will accomplish everything you are trying to do without the utility.

However, you have an underlying problem. Crashes indicate something else is going on.




I agree about the active desktop and the extra utility. When you Download freeware, you often Download Spyware with it. Spyware is notorious for causing crashes. There are other things to look at as well. But let's start there and see. Also, do you get any error messages when it happens? If so, please post them. They can provide valuable clues.
Try this:
Download Ad Aware and run it to see what Spyware you may have. If you remove spyware, often the application it came with will cease to function.

I have adware checker already pretty cool
learned allot from getting this program along time ago...... adware has a small program to download it updates and saves them for ya!!! As far as I know I am free of know adware stuff that it checks for....

I think I figured out what the problem was... It was the real player update from RealNetworks, Inc. that caused the problem.
I hate RealNetworks, Inc. products they are full of spyware.... They did change there product to turn the send info off after allot of people complained but I think it changed my sound card drivers and it was causing a problem I delete the sound drivers in the device manager then rebuilt them also rebuilded IE 6.0 The wife said it only hung on her once today but she goes to all those junk sites that have funnies and cards it may have been a error in the web page in this one case....

you can restart the desktop explorer by ctrl alt del and end task it then the desktop explorer will restart you don't have to log all the way off and back on......... I just want to have it skip the screen that says restore active desktop part

Ok so how will my putter run with out a active desktop.... Is there a way to turn it off and still use the Microsoft Family logon ........ cause i'm not using Client for Microsoft Networks
If there is I will turn it off......

I've never used family logon before, but I can't see any relation betweeen the two.

You're experienced enough to turn it off and find out.

It is right on the start menu .. Found it after I posted that one I go right by it on my way to the control Panel LOL ....

There is nothing wrong with family logic I have always used it on my putter... My users like the multi users logon screen

I'm not on a network so I don't need the network logon........

It is just programs like real player that cause head aches either way you log on it still uses the same dat files
You can switch between the two just a pain in the butt... Found this out when a tweak program changed my line up........... one time

Oh well it is back to normal it was the real net that screwed me up I final got an error messege that led me to a web page that said it was a sound driver problem delete them and rebuild them
I hate real network ............ In the past I emailed them about there spyware they deined it but after it hit the news it seems they changed .......

When I got the return e-mail they said if this is in reference to this article it is a lie... LOL I didn't know about the article ......
