View Full Version : Win 95 Shut-down Screen Hangs
If I make even the smallest changes to my registry (such as installing a small program), when I re-boot the computer the shutdown screen "hangs" indefinitely. I then have to press the reset button to start again. Also, I have a V90 LT WinModem, and when I've shut down like this it will fail to load properly. So to get back to normal I have to re-boot again. I suspect both problems are related, as they are always corrlelated with each other. I also suspect that both have something to do with the registry trying to process the new information. Anybody have any ideas on how to fix this? BTW, this is NOT an IOS problem. The registry is clean, and the computer never hangs when it boots up. Thanks.

do a cntrl/alt/del just before shutdown to see whats running. try "end task" on each program {one at a time} and then restart each time. download a dll program to see the processes running just before shutdown/restart. Also start disabling one by one your RUN section entries in the registry to isolate the culprit.
Who knows could be an incorrect version of a device driver file thats running at shutdown and it's conflicting with other DLL's, Ocx's, VXD's etc. etc...
Good luck

Hey guy, I'va seen alot with 95 when it hangs at shutdown that there is a conflict ( IRQ, I/O, etc.) You might want to ckeck this out.
