I am looking for a program that will let you open up a ???.reg file as if it were your actual registry. For instance a backup that you have made so that you can clean and edit things within this file.

Sure, it is called NotePad.
Go to regedit and export the key you want to play with. Right click on it and select edit. This should open with NotePad. When you are done just save it and then double click on the file to import it to the registry. It will replace the current value.

There is an application named <a target="_blank" href=http://www.rocketdownload.com/Details/Util/regview.htm>Regview</a> that will do this.

I was talking about a very large file like, your whole registry. If you try to open this up in Notepad or another text editor you will just get the code, I want to see it as if it was the real registry and I can Edit it as the file and not have to import it.
