A blue splash screen that says Dell E Com covers up the boot process on my laptop. I would like to remove this screen so I can follow what is going on. Dell support will not tell me how. Guess they like to remind me who I bought my absurdly expensive laptop from. I figure this can be fixed in the registry. Any ideas?

If your DEll is anything like my HP that can be found and disabled in the BIOS.
I think it is called Boot Diagnostic screen or something similar.

If you are referring to the screen that comes on when you first turn your laptop on, there is no way to bypass it. If you want to watch what is going on, you might want to try pressing escape. I have worked with a few Dell laptops, but I forget if this works or not. There may also be an option in the bios, search for "disable quick boot" or "show details" or something to that effect. Not sure if these options exist or not, as every manufacturer is different. Try pressing a fe different combinations of keys such as f2, delete, shift-delete, shift-f2, etc the get into the bios setup... These are the common keys that usually work to get into the bios. I also believe that there is a "setup" key on the new Dell laptops.. I have seen it, but I have not had the opportunity to see what it does.
The screen you are referring to is part of the BIOS, and cannot be changed in the registry, because Windows isn't even loaded yet at that point. If you want to replace the dell modified windows 95/98 splash screen, you can get a variety of different ones, just search for logo.sys on the internet. Or ask someone for an unmodified version from their pc.
I hope this helps......
