I'm running NT4.0/SP5. I logged on to the computer and found that when I press the start button on the bottom left of the screen, the start menu comes fine except that it is about 1 inch to the right of the left hand border of the screen instead of at the left hand border of the screen.
I created a new user and logged on as that user. And the start menu was correctly placed. I believe this proves to be a problem with my profile. Can anyone tell me how to set my start menu to the proper location? Thanks.

You could try this tweak http://www.winguides.com/ (http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/277/>http://www.winguides.com/registry/display.php/277/</a>)

Thanks for the fast response. I will try your suggestion if the solution I found in M/S Technet fails. The ID of the article is Q164740 last modified on 1/30/2001 titled "Start Menu Appears to the Right of the Start Button". Basically, the article says that there is an icon on the start menu that is too large. The article applies to 95, 95 oem, NT4 wrkstation and Server. Since I'm running NT4 Wkstn I'm going to try the solution from the article before trying the reg tweak you suggest. I'll let you know either way if the situation is resolved.

Thanks again for your speedy response.

Simon,
It turned out to be a problem with an icon on the start menu. Removing the entry resulted in the start menu appearing in the proper position. I recoded the shortcut and the problem has been solved.
Thanks for you advise
