View Full Version : Can't Add Virtual Root to a Directory

In IIS (MMC) I deleted a few unused real Directories.
I am unable to run the IIS LockDown Tool. Because it can't find the Dir's just deleted.

Also Upon a Re-boot, I get the
msg in the Event Viewer..
Server unable to add virtual root '/xxxx/_VTI_TXT' for the (real) Directory
'D:\InetPub\www.mydomain.com\xxxx\_vti_txt' due to the following error:
the system cannot find the path specified. NO DAH!!!

My Question is where is this info stored so I can remove it. It seems IIS did not.
Can it be a file in the \InetPub\catalog.wci\ Directory and if so how do I edit the many
files there.

Thanks
-Arnie

That information is probably stored in the IIS metabase rather than the registry (I don't have an IIS machine on hand to check). You can read some more about the metabase http://www.winguides.com/ (http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q240/9/41.ASP>here</a>.

You gotta be the "Smartest" guy on the Planet!!!
I printed those Articles (will read them) and hope I don't get too much in trouble.

Thanks, at least you pointed me in the right direction.
